Biographical Note
Jean and Day Krolik were collectors of tinsel paintings. In the early 1970s, they began to donate the paintings to major museums. In 1975, they gave a major gift to the Henry Ford Museum, and followed that with a gift to the American Folk Art Museum (then called the Museum of American Folk Art). The Kroliks had a long-standing relationship with Robert C. Bishop, who left his curatorial and editor positions at the Henry Ford Museum to become the Director of the American Folk Art Museum in 1977. The Kroliks continued to give to the museum, most recently in 2006 with a gift of twenty-nine tinsel paintings.
