Conditions Governing Access

A note about the sound quality of the recordings and the accuracy of the transcripts:

The sound quality of the recordings vary. This is, in large part, due to the conversational nature in which the Rosenaks conducted their interviews with artists. It can, at times, be difficult to hear the speakers clearly depending on who is involved in the interview and where the conversation took place. Cross-talking, residual noise, and a speaker's distance away from the recording device can sometimes make the conversation difficult to follow. This is also reflected in the transcripts created from the recordings.

In the transcripts, brackets are used so that the transcriber can communicate with the transcript reader. Most of the time the brackets are used to signal when a word or phrase was difficult to discern based on the recording or the exact spelling of a name or phrase is unclear to the transcriber. It is recommended that researchers access the recording by listening to the audio and reading the transcript together, rather than reading only the transcript.

If a researcher sees errors in the transcript, they are invited to report them to the Archivist so that this record can be amended.
