Series II: Journals and Diaries, bulk: 1911 - 1967
Scope and Contents
The series is comprised of Darger’s personal journals and diaries, which include a six-volume weather report journal that he kept daily for ten years (1957–1967). The weather report journals annotate weather reports as listed in the local paper, accompanied by Darger’s own interpretation of the weather on that particular day. Other journals contain text relating to storylines found in his accompanying manuscripts, including a journal documenting “predictions” made by Darger (June 1911–December 1917). Another journal (1912–1927), contains lists of Darger’s favorite songs, poems, copied religious texts, as well as details from his daily schedule, including the masses that he attended each day.
