Artworks dated 1946 (35mm slides)
Scope and Contents
Material is divided into two sub-series: Sub-series A: Artwork and Sub-series B: Events and Personal. The artwork sub-series is primarily professional photographs of Fasanella’s paintings, including multiple sizes of transparencies (the majority consisting of 35mm slides, 4 x 5” and 8 x 10” transparencies, with some other formats as well). There are also a small amount of prints.
The following sub-series, Events and Personal, contains photographs and negatives of the Fasanella family and friends at various events, including portraits of Fasanella in his studio, exhibition openings, personal events, labor union events, and more. When given to the American Folk Art Museum, the photographs were primarily in their original envelope from the printer, which often contains Eva’s handwriting, labeling the set of photographs. This label, along with the dates often printed on the versos of the photographs, were the primary source of information when creating the folders. The folders are arranged in loose chronological order, with the exception of the final box in the series, which contains more general photographs such as portraits, mounted photographs with well-known individuals, such as Pete Seeger and Mayor David Dinkins, and a bulk of undated photographs.
